The authority in Commercial Real Estate lending software.
Rockport was conceived by Rick Trepp (Founder of Trepp) in the late 1990's to provide complementary tools to the services provided by Trepp, LLC.Rockport Logo
Rockport is a Commercial Real Estate lending management Software as a Service (SaaS) system that allows for complete organization and analysis of clients' internal information related to CRE lending: analytic tools, a centralized information repository for deal documents, ad hoc reporting, excel integrations, asset-specific chart of accounts, full disaster recovery/security protocols, user-defined fields for custom integrations into a client's workflow and a full audit trail for every field in the system for compliance concerns.
Richard C. Trepp
Rick Trepp is a prominent and well respected authority in the field of structured finance, providing the real estate market with non-partisan expertise in structured finance and software analytics since he founded Trepp & Company, Inc. in 1979 as a vehicle to incubate his entrepreneurial concepts. One of the companies formed through this incubator, Trepp, LLC, has grown to become the industry standard provider of information, analytics and technology to the CMBS, commercial real estate and banking markets. Rick sold Trepp, LLC in 2004 to DMG Information, the information publishing division of the Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), but remains a Board Member and close advisor to the company's senior management team. Under Rick's guidance, Trepp and Company, Inc and its affiliated companies have structured and serviced billions of dollars of asset-backed securities and the companies' analytical software has been utilized to reverse engineer over 10,000 separate securitizations backed by all types of financial assets.
In 2002 Rick launched The Rockport Group, and the company's SaaS platform has become the industry-leading provider for commercial mortgage loan origination, underwriting, securitization and asset management. Today the platform is used by banks, investment funds and life insurance companies for the origination, securitization and asset management of performing and non-performing loans and REOs. Leveraging the product strength and market positioning of both Trepp, LLC and Rockport, in January 2013 the companies announced TreppPort, LLC, a joint venture that provides a web-based, end-to-end lending, surveillance and asset management solution enabling clients to assess their entire global commercial real estate (CRE) exposure.
Rick is actively involved in both Rockport and TreppPort as Chairman and Co-Chairman, respectively, and visionary for both firms. Rick's other business activities include Rockport Funding, LLC, a private equity firm focused on information technology. In addition, Rick serves on other corporate boards including Lewtan, a wholly-owned portfolio company of DMGT.
In the early 1980s Rick was asked by the White House and the Treasury Department to participate in the establishment of tax legislation (TIMS and REMIC) for mortgage-backed securities. In 1986, Trepp & Company, Inc. was selected by the Public Securities Association to create a clearing house for all CMO/REMIC's. He has been an invited speaker at conferences, has published articles on the topic of securitized financings and operations research and served on the Editorial Board of CMBS World.
Before establishing Trepp & Company, Inc., Rick was Vice President-Division Executive of The Chase Manhattan Bank, directing the new product and loan pricing division. Prior to that, he was a Vice President and team leader for corporate lending to U.S. multi-national corporations. His business career began in Operations Research for the U.S. Air Force.
Rick holds an M.B.A. with honors from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. Rick enjoys rebuilding old wooden sailboats, sailing, skiing, squash, hiking, climbing and almost all outdoor activities. He lives in Westchester County, New York with his wife and has two sons. One of his sons works closely with him as COO of Rockport. The other is an attending physician in emergency medicine at Columbia Presbyterian. Rick currently serves on the board of the Andrew Glover Foundation and National Scholastic Chess Foundation.
