I grew up in a small town, so I'm very comfortable being in a small town. In fact, prefer a small town. On the other hand, I've been in New York City now for the last 40, 45 years. Towards the end of grad school, I decided it would be interesting to learn how to fly. So, I learned how to fly a small plane out of a cow pasture in North Thetford, Vermont. Long weekend, I'd throw a backpack on my back, hike the Appalachian Trail, up in New Hampshire.
Disappear into the woods for three or four days and did that both in the summer and the winter. I played squash for a lot of years. I like to rebuild old sailboats, so I spent a lot of time on the ocean sailing. I rebuilt from scratch a 40-foot old US One design, which I sail now, so very much enjoy working with wood.
