The One Value That Unites Everything We Do at Rockport

About this video

Growing up in a small farming town with parents and grandparents who worked extremely hard to become successful in life, integrity was instilled in Rick Trepp from early childhood. It’s one of the key lessons that was passed from his grandfather – a miner who educated himself and became a chemist and to his father, who was a community banker and treasurer of local organizations. It remains the guiding principle not just for his own life but for the businesses he’s built. Integrity is perhaps the single word that best encapsulates the Rockport ethos.

At the center of the Rockport story is our legendary leader, Rick Trepp, of Trepp® fame. Rick has over 40 years of experience as a pioneer in the CRE industry - founding and managing five successful companies built from the ground up. We carry this rich history and deep industry knowledge through everything we do.

Growing up, my father strongly believed in it, and we talked about it many times. We lived in a small farming town. He grew up on a farm, went from there to become a banker. I think that every organization, whether it was the church or the cemetery or the Masons or the Board of Town Finance, he was treasurer. And life was about integrity. He grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts back when there was a substantial amount of mining being done. So as a teenager, he earned a penny a hole by hand drilling in the quarries, where back then it was hand drilled.

He was self-taught. He taught himself chemistry, became an expert in glycerin, and lived to be one hundred. And when he was in his late 80s, he'd be out in the backyard doing chin ups. I guess there was a benefit to doing the hand drilling of the quarries, but now he was totally self-taught. She went to, which was totally unusual back then, she went to go to Simmons High in Boston, was fully college educated and a librarian.
